After a full year of successful testing, we’re excited to release our Strain Gauge Shift Knob. This shift knob features a built-in load cell and amplifier circuit that can interface with almost any programmable ECU, enabling clutchless shifting. The load cell measures the force applied to the knob in either direction and transmits this data to the ECU. A voltage threshold can then be set to trigger ignition cut for lightning-fast gear changes for use with dog-box transmissions.

The load cell requires a 5VDC supply from your ECU and outputs 2.5V at rest. Pushing or pulling on the knob varies the voltage in either direction, allowing you to fine-tune the ignition cut point. The output is internally conditioned and amplified, providing a usable range from 0.5V to 4.5VDC.

The shift knob’s top section is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, anodized (seven color options coming soon—black available now), and laser-etched. The lower body is made from black Delrin, a lightweight yet durable alternative to aluminum. This keeps weight down while providing a comfortable grip, and it also reduces possible false triggering caused by vibration or resonance in heavier assemblies. The center section, which houses the electronics, is CNC-machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and clear anodized. The complete assembly weighs just 205 g, with the outer body accounting for 110 g.

Every knob comes with a Lifetime Warranty for the original buyer. Each unit has a unique serial number laser-etched onto the load cell, which we keep on record. An etched alignment arrow on the lower part of the load cell also helps with orientation during installation.

Multiple thread options are available. These are not adapters, we drill and tap each knob to your requested thread spec. This makes the shifter compatible with any OEM or aftermarket setup, including KDN, K-Tuned, Honda, Acura, Mitsubishi, Neon/SRT-4, and more.
